About The Role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman is seeking Construction Inspector with 5 or more years of experience in construction inspections and/or public works management. As an inspector, you will provide on-site inspection services for various municipal infrastructure and/or transportation projects located in and around the Chicago, Naperville or Rockford area.

What Your Day-To-Day Will Look Like, What You Will Learn On The Job

• Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and test as needed.
• Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses, and public agency representative.
• Resolve construction conflicts and prepare cost-effective solutions.
• Review pay requests and verify work completed.
• Endeavor to provide protection for owner against defects and deficiencies in the work.
• Serve as liaison with contractor, working principally through contractor's superintendent.
• Maintain job site records of Daily Reports, project photographs job meeting minutes, approved shop drawing submittals, and pay requests.
• Maintain records of time, equipment, and material needs for any changes in the work that may result in a change order. Review and request adjustments of compensation and/or contract time.
• Observing, measuring and documenting construction activities.
• Maintaining a daily log of construction activities.
• Addressing resident complaints and concerns.
• Coordinating with the contractor and other duties as needed or assigned.

Education Requirement

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent

Must-Haves, What You Will Bring

• 5 or more years of experience in construction inspections and/or public works management.
• Must have experience in the construction of municipal utility infrastructure projects (water mains, wastewater forcemains, stormwater systems, and roadways).
• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman's service area.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $36.00 - $46.00 per hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
