Infrastructure Engineer
To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure. Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response.
Accountabilities
- Build Engineering: Development, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Including the identification of the appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation, and resourcing requirements.
- Incident Management: Monitoring of IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve any potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use of data to drive down mean time to resolution.
- Automation: Development and implementation of automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting/coding disciplines.
- Security: Implementation of a secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats, including protection of hardware, software, and data from unauthorised access.
- Teamwork: Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives via a data driven approach.
- Learning: Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

To be successful as an "Infrastructure Engineer", you should have experience with:
Basic/ Essential Qualifications:
- Strong network fundamentals & troubleshooting: Expert-level diagnosis across routing/switching, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, and edge services; packet-level analysis; confident decision-making under pressure.
- Production operations & reliability: Incident/problem management leadership, post-incident reviews, error budgeting / SLO thinking (where used), and designing controls to prevent recurrence.
- Network technology breadth: Solid capability across Cisco ACI/Nexus/Catalyst, SD-WAN, F5 (or equivalent), Fortinet (or equivalent), Infoblox (DNS/DHCP/IPAM), proxy/remote access services, and associated tooling.
- Change governance & risk: Proven ability to gatekeep and execute production change safely; strong understanding of regulated controls, audit requirements, and change/incident processes.
- Automation & scripting: Practical experience using Python and/or Ansible (and related tooling) to automate operational tasks, reduce toil, validate configurations, and improve reliability at scale.
Desirable skillsets/ good to have:
- Reliability engineering and observability: Experience improving monitoring, alert quality, operational KPIs, and proactive issue prevention.
- Advanced automation and IaC: Exposure to CI/CD patterns for network change, configuration management, testing/validation, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform) where applicable.
- Hybrid and cloud networking: Working knowledge of cloud connectivity and hybrid patterns (AWS/Azure), including operational troubleshooting across on-prem and cloud.
- Vendor and service integration: Experience working with vendor-delivered services under defined operational controls, knowledge transfer, and measurable outcomes.
- Operational excellence: Recognised escalation SME who drives sustained operational improvement through data, controls, and disciplined execution.
