Summary

The position of Sales Manager will establish the company as an industry leader in the Commercial Solar/Renewables business while achieving annual sales and installation targets. This position will support the company's core competencies in solar as well as lead the entry into transformative markets including battery storage and microgrids.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Direct management of all functions of the sales team in the Commercial Solar operating group.
  • Provides leadership to the team, spanning from marketing to sales to implementation and execution.
  • Successfully manage the business unit to achieve budgeted revenues and profitability.
  • Evaluate current sales, tactics, and strategy, and adjust as needed for improvements.
  • Manage the group's CRM for a better understanding of sales performance data and trends at the individual and group levels.
  • Manage the sales team to close $45-$50MM (or more) in contracts annually.
  • Explore additional offerings to ensure achievement of financial targets and diversification with the business unit.
  • This role is responsible for securing and maintaining multiple financing partners for our renewables projects - lease, PPA, traditional lending - that give us a turnkey solution to developing, constructing and financing design-build projects.
  • Ongoing development and mentoring of the team including the development and communication of clear objectives, monitoring of progress and ensuring accountability for achievement of business unit and company objectives.
  • Develop annual budget in line with strategic plan and then successfully implement and achieve both plan and budget.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business processes and risks, and the primary cost and revenue levers.
  • Build and maintain a business unit culture of passion, performance and accountability which is aligned with the company culture and attracts, retains and motivates the best qualified employees.
  • Work with individual senior management to improve process, efficiency and achieve operational excellence in individual functional areas and for the company overall.
  • Conduct regular meetings with management at various levels to review objectives, status, and metrics.
  • Maintain a non-bureaucratic open culture which invites open and active constructive challenges regardless of level or position.
  • Prepare monthly revenue forecasts.
  • Work with senior management team to facilitate company growth.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as head of a $20-40 Million business unit with specific emphasis on renewable energy.
  • Must be able to operate at the 50,000 ft level for strategic planning but willing and able to dive deep into tactics and operational details as required to gather data and ensure company performance.
  • Experience developing and formalizing strategic partnerships and new sales programs and approaches.
  • Thrives on in a fast-paced evolving industry where change is constantly occurring.
  • High degree of honesty, integrity and personal modesty.
  • Proven capability of building a world-class team.
  • Not easily flustered. Willing to face difficult situations and people head on.
  • Has a true passion for renewable energy solutions.
  • Given the importance of this position, we expect the highest level of commitment and willingness to parallel CEO's and Boards passion for the business and working schedule.

Qualifications

  • Excellent skills with Salesforce, Procore, MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, etc. Not dependent on others to produce documents, spreadsheets.
  • Strong work ethic. Understands how to manage people effectively and leads by example.
  • Positive attitude with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Proven ability to develop financial plans and manage resources.
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Excellent leadership and people skills, able to manage, motivate and discipline if necessary.
  • Analytical mindset and excellent understanding of P&L and Cash Flow; able to use data to measure, set metrics and improve performance.
