Systems Engineer

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to add their skills to our team supporting internal development and MBSE implementation efforts for the Space and Mission Systems sector. What You'll Do:
- Provide leadership to a team of systems engineers to define, implement, and operate complex systems which include missions, spacecraft, instruments, software and ground systems.
- Support the proper allocation, traceability, and verification of requirements at all levels through the lifecycle of the program.
- Collaborate with enterprise PLM tool transition team, representing the interests of the systems engineering community.
- Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for architecture to requirements traceability, behavior decomposition, and interface development.
- Interact with multiple subject matter experts to develop performance allocation analysis and verification artifacts.
- Support program Risk & Opportunity Management and ERB processes.
- Lead SE teams in the implementation and execution of MBSE practices
- Support expectations, preparations, and delivery for major gate reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, PSR).
- Develop and review guidance and training materials related to architecture modeling, tool usage, processes, data governance, assumptions, and limitations. Coordinate amongst practitioners to share best practices, establish consistent system model infrastructure.
- Mentor other system engineers assigned to the team.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Experience utilizing SysML and/or UAF model authoring tools and associated model management capabilities (familiarity with Cameo/MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, or Rational Rhapsody, e.g.)
- Experience using requirements database tools (Jama, Cameo Requirements Modeler, e.g.)
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including architecture development, behavior decomposition, requirements development and allocation, change management, verification and validation – a self-starter that will own this activity.
- Excellent presentation skills with experience presenting to senior decision-making and technical audiences.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams including meeting schedule and performance goals.
- Experience developing scripts to automate processes (Python, etc.)
- Experience translating customer needs and objectives into capability requirements and soliciting feedback
- Understanding of the traditional systems engineering lifecycle, phases, processes, inputs/outputs, artifact
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- OMG Systems Modeling Language (SysML) Certification (preferred; or experience applying each language construct on complex, multi-user projects)
- Related experience in either mission systems, spacecraft systems, ground systems or payloads is preferred.
- Customer Knowledge: knowledge of missions and customers across core technologies areas and knowledge/experience working with critical customer base is preferred.
Pay Information:
Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
