Senior Engineer – Quality Assurance

Perform assurance activities for engineering design and developmental tasks, systems analysis and design, and software and/or hardware development, individual component level, sub-system level to system level manufacturing, test and integration, etc. for all phases, systems, programs and or products. The Enterprise Assurance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers critical assurance disciplines that protect and enable people, data and missions. We provide a comprehensive approach to managing risk across the enterprise for current and future information environments where the business and missions execute. We apply the use of innovative tools and robust processes to ensure mission and business success.

What You'll Do:

  • Work as part of a team during all phases of the program lifecycle, supporting design and execution activities under the guidance of leadership and program personnel.
  • Participate in technical reviews, such as design and milestone reviews, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and quality standards. Provide input on risk mitigation and program documentation, integrating quality assurance processes into the program design and execution activities.
  • Interface and guide a broad range of program personnel including design, manufacturing, inspection and test engineering.
  • Investigate and resolve routine quality issues. Identify root cause and implement corrective action. Document findings for traceability and lessons learned and support continuous improvement efforts across programs.
  • Chair the Material Review Board (MRB) for programs with knowledge of dispositions, MRB authority, and compliance with customer flowed requirements; track MRB items.
  • Identify areas for improvement and propose changes to enhance efficiency and quality outcome.
  • Participate and at times, lead, audit activities, including both internal and external audits and third-party certifications.
  • Participate in manufacturing activities, collaborating with production teams to integrate quality standards into manufacturing operations including manufacturing process plan reviews and shop order generation.
  • Collect and interpret data related to quality performance and program objectives. Support the development of metrics to monitor program-specific goals and requirements. Share data-driven insights with the team to support informed decision-making.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years of related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • The candidate must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to work in and contribute to a diverse and cross functional team environment.
  • A demonstrated understanding of basic aerospace and defense industry and government specifications and standards and the requirements contained therein that guide the design, build, and test of hardware.
  • A demonstrated understanding of Quality Engineering (QE) principles, tools, methods, and standards.
  • Must be willing to take initiative, be able to complete tasks in a timely manner, and have good time management and organizational skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
  • ASQ CQE Certification

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95106 - $161680 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
