If you'd like to join our growing manufacturing operations team in a mission to help the warfighter, this could be an ideal role for you! The role is hands-on, technically challenging, and allows you to contribute to impactful projects with exciting missions. As a manufacturing engineer you'll work alongside highly skilled people including technicians, operation specialists, and programs where there is space to learn and grow. This position will support our paint automation, additive manufacturing, and automated quality control work centers. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

What You'll Do:

  • Operate and integrate advanced manufacturing systems, including industrial robots, paint systems, FDM printers, resin LCD printers, and optical CMM equipment.
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced manufacturing processes with a focus on additive manufacturing (AM) and automation.
  • Translate product design requirements into scalable, repeatable, and cost-effective manufacturing methods.
  • Ensure manufacturing systems have the capability and capacity to meet program demands, from prototype to production scale.
  • Partner with the equipment maintenance team to standardize and improve preventive maintenance programs, ensuring maximum uptime of critical manufacturing assets.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to optimize designs, tooling, and fixtures for additive and automation-friendly production.
  • Partner with controls engineers and system integrators to specify, install, and validate robotic systems, cobots, and digital work instructions.
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership for a small team of engineers and technicians, including task assignment, workload prioritization, and performance feedback.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering cross-training and technical growth in additive manufacturing and automation disciplines.
  • Coordinate project activities, ensuring alignment with program milestones, cost targets, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical training, documentation, and guidance to operators, technicians, and peers, driving adoption of new technologies and best practices.
  • May assist with presentation preparation.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing (FDM and/or resin-based) and robotic or automated equipment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM and basic GD&T.
  • Solid problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Clear communicator, capable of documenting processes and training others.
