Director II – Finance

BAE Systems is seeking a strategic financial operations leader to join our Space and Mission Systems (SMS) sector. This key role will drive business outcomes by overseeing and integrating various finance functions, systems, processes, and tools to ensure efficient and effective finance operations. A successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, drive business acumen, provide consistency through efficient process and tools, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Finance Leadership: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to maintain and improve finance systems and tools, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
  • DFARS Business Systems Compliance: Ensure compliance with DFARS 252.234-7002 Earned Value Management System, regulatory requirements, including DFARS, FAR, and CAS, and support audits to maintain compliance with relevant industry, government, and company standards.
  • Process Standardization and Improvement: Develop and implement standardized processes, policies, templates, and guidance to ensure consistency in practice across Finance. Identify areas for process improvements and develop innovative solutions to streamline processes, tools, and policies.
  • Finance Systems and Tools Management: Oversee system support, upgrades, maintenance, and enhancement of financial systems, including Costpoint, BART/PPM, Icertis Financials, Adaptive Planning, and other financial systems and tools. Sponsor and provide support for tool transformation projects that impact Finance and the enterprise, ensuring effective implementation and adoption.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Develop and implement reporting capabilities to support business decision-making and drive continuous improvement and innovation in finance operations and processes.
  • Leadership and Development: Provide leadership and direction to a Finance department comprising of multiple teams, including Finance Systems and Master Data, Centralized Planning and Program Finance, Learning & Knowledge Management, and Administrative Services. Foster a culture of continuous development, training, and capability growth, ensuring the department is equipped to drive business outcomes and achieve SMS objectives.
  • Knowledge Management: Oversee learning and knowledge management across the organization; coordinating, prioritizing and executing on the needs of the Finance functional areas.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with senior leadership to design, implement, and communicate a future-state finance organization that is agile, responsive, and equipped to support the evolving needs of the business. Stay current on industry trends and best practices through engagement with other BAE Systems sectors and involvement in external professional associations / seminars and other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working four days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Short Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • BS/BA in a related field plus 12 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Experience in Aerospace and Defense (A&D) or similar government contracting environment.
  • 4+ years of functional management experience.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong people and team-building skills.
  • Strong financial and business management skills.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Advanced degree.
  • Experience in financial systems management and process improvement.
  • Knowledge and use of key financial systems (Costpoint, EcoSys/PPM, On-Base, Icertis, Adaptive Planning).
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $157911 - $268449 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
