Backblaze

A cloud storage and data backup provider offering easy-to-use services for both personal and business use.

Channel Marketing Director

Backblaze is the object storage leader in the open cloud movement, fueling customer success with cloud storage built purposefully to unlock budgets, unburden administrators, and unleash innovators. Together with our partners, we're helping customers break free from the restrictive, overpriced legacy solutions that hold them back and blaze forward with the full power of the open cloud in their hands.

Founded in 2007, we scaled the business with less than $3 million in outside funding until 2021, when we did a traditional IPO on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Today, Backblaze generates over $125m in revenue and is the leading specialized storage cloud, managing over three billion gigabytes of data storage for 500K+ customers in 175+ countries, including businesses, developers, IT professionals, and individuals.

But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We are seeking a Director of Channel Marketing to join our team!

About the Role:

Backblaze is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Channel Marketing to lead our go-to-market (GTM) campaigns and partner marketing efforts across our growing channel ecosystem. This role is mission-critical to accelerating our indirect sales pipeline and brand presence, with a strong emphasis on working with Managed Service Providers (MSPs). You'll develop and execute marketing strategies with MSP partners, distributors, and resellers, ensuring consistent engagement, lead generation, and revenue growth.

What You'll Do:

Develop and execute joint GTM strategies and quarterly marketing campaigns with key MSP partners to drive pipeline and partner-led revenue growth.

Plan and manage channel marketing campaigns and events in partnership with distributors and resellers across sales territories.

Define and track performance metrics for all campaigns and events, ensuring a minimum 4X ROI on marketing spend.

Manage and optimize the channel marketing budget, ensuring strategic allocation and cost-effective program execution.

Own and evolve the Backblaze Partner Portal experience, ensuring it supports marketing, enablement, and partner engagement objectives.

Collaborate closely with sales, product marketing, and partner management teams to align messaging and campaign execution.

Create scalable partner marketing programs, toolkits, and resources for the channel to drive self-service and repeatable success.

Support partner onboarding and enablement initiatives through marketing content and co-branded campaign execution.

The Right Fit:

7+ years of experience in channel marketing, with a strong emphasis on the MSP ecosystem.

Proven track record of building and executing GTM campaigns with MSPs, distributors, and resellers.

Demonstrated ability to manage budgets with ROI accountability.

Experience planning and executing partner marketing events—virtual, in-person, and trade shows.

Familiarity with partner portal platforms and channel enablement tools.

Strong cross-functional collaboration and project management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Bonus Points For:

Experience in B2B cloud storage, SaaS, or data protection industries.

Proven experience working directly with MSP partners to plan and execute marketing programs.

Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo) and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).

Strategic thinker with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
