The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable and efficient data architectures, ensuring the quality, availability and reliability of the information that supports the strategic decisions of the business.

Main Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain efficient and secure data pipelines
• Integrate and process large volumes of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources
• Optimize data architectures and flows, identifying opportunities for improvement and automation
• Perform root cause analysis in the face of incidents or deviations in data processes, proposing sustainable solutions
• Develop analytical tools and models that generate actionable insights on customer acquisition, operational performance and business metrics
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, analytics, business and technical leadership) to ensure the availability and correct consumption of data
• Actively participate in the definition and implementation of data engineering standards and best practices

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

• University degree in Systems Engineering, Computing, Statistics, Data Science or related field
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in similar roles
• Proven experience in the creation and optimization of Big Data pipelines and architectures
• Advanced knowledge in SQL and handling of relational and non-relational databases
• Experience in the processing, transformation and modeling of large-scale data
• This position is open exclusively for people located in Costa Rica

Technologies and Tools

• Domination of Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka
• Experience in cloud services, preferably Microsoft Azure: Cosmos DB, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL
• Knowledge in streaming processing (e.g. Storm, Spark Streaming)
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Scala, Java, C++ or Go
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes, and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet)
• Handling of orchestration and data flow tools such as Airflow and BigQuery

Additional Skills

• Experience in continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
• Strong analytical capacity and focus on solving complex problems
• Experience working under agile methodologies (Scrum / Kanban)
• Intermediate to advanced English level (B2)
