Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital.
Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services including:
Surgery services
Medical imaging
Interventional and diagnostic heart services
Cancer care
Rehabilitation
24-hour emergency care
Ambulance services
Plant Operations is responsible for maintaining the hospital, medical office building, and Eunice Smith Nursing Home infrastructure in good working order. The department performs routine repairs, maintenance, and completes work orders to ensure operational efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Provides the necessary skill for operation and maintenance of physical plant systems to ensure safe operation, optimum performance, and maximum efficiency. Performs the most difficult repairs and overhauls on mechanical equipment across the facility.
Responsibilities
Keeps equipment clean and operational
Handles and disposes of hazardous and/or infectious waste properly; practices infection control
Operates, repairs, troubleshoots, and maintains all physical plant equipment in compliance with department procedures and applicable regulations
Completes all assigned critical and routine equipment preventative maintenance using approved procedures and manufacturer specifications
Notifies leadership of equipment malfunctions, boiler issues, or other events impacting boiler plant or hospital steam system operations
Monitors elevators and determines if a repair technician needs to be dispatched
Minimum Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 5–10 years
Supervisor Experience: None required
Preferred Requirements
Licenses & Certifications:
SE – Class 1 HVAC
EPA Refrigerant Certification
