The Department of Food and Nutrition at Barnes-Jewish Hospital consists of patient retail and catering service areas on both the North and South Campus. This includes patient meal and clinical nutrition services, Queeny Tower Restaurant, three cafeterias, and three coffee bars. It is the role of the department to serve the needs of patients, visitors, and employees with excellent customer service. Opportunities are available for all skill levels from entry-level positions to licensed and/or certified management positions.
The Patient Services Lead will be responsible for all activities within the assigned area including assisting the supervisor/manager with daily operational functions of the patient services area, training and direction of staff, conducting inspections to evaluate adherence to quality control standards, monitoring diet compliance, monitoring patient and nursing satisfaction, and food quality.
Assists department management in coordinating and achieving department goals. Works various positions where needed to ensure quality and timely delivery of service. Assists with assigning work tasks, monitoring employee performance and schedules, completing and monitoring quality control logs, training employees, and building an effective work unit. Evaluates patient meal selection, dietary restrictions/allergies, tray completion, tray delivery, and tray retrieval process on a daily basis ensuring that work unit follows proper diet protocols, safety guidelines, and sanitation guidelines. Responsive to patients needs at all times. Resolves patient concerns or complaints immediately and/or reports needed assistance to supervisor as appropriate.
Education: High school diploma or GED. Experience: 2-5 years. Supervisor experience: None.
