Supplier Operations Team Lead

The Supplier Operations Team Lead position at Avnet entails overseeing purchasing activities, order management, and decision making on how to reduce risk and drive inventory, while also aligning purchasing activities with business strategies and financial objectives. A Team Lead is also responsible of solving operational questions from the team, acting as subject matter expert, providing training new members, backing up supervisor, acting as a role model of integrity, customer focus, ownership, teamwork, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PO Backlog Management
    • Manages the order status process, including ensuring that shipping and delivery information in SAP is accurate.
    • Analyze the data from both the supplier or manufacturer side and our system to assess whether adjustments are necessary.
    • Communicate to the Materials team of any discrepancies (dates, quantities, prices, etc.) as needed or resolve them to align both the supplier's backlog and SAP PO backlog.
  • Past Due & No Commit Orders
    • Maintain the system updated with the most recent confirmation dates and PO delivery details. Work proactively in getting tracking information before it becomes past due. Escalate with supervisor if there is a lack of response.
    • Review the established frequencies for the orders that have not been confirmed by MFG. Escalate the situation as needed to get a commit date.
  • MRP Actions (Pull ins, Push outs, Cancellations)
    • Analyze and execute the MRP actions the established frequency.
    • Evaluate the actions using the Manufacturer' rules and priority guidelines provided by Leadership, Materials team or PLDs.
  • Collaboration Calls
    • Set up meetings with the materials team (SOS, MSA, MS) to review open issues for our suppliers.
    • Capable of leading calls in fluent spoken English with supplier or other Avnet groups.
  • Team Lead Responsibilities
    • Solve questions from the team, complex scenarios or system issues.
    • Subject matter expert of the processes managed within the SOS team.
    • Knows multiple suppliers within their area of expertise (IP&E or Semi)
    • Provide training to new hires, or refresh trainings
    • Provide support with continuous improvement initiatives, whether as a change champion, as a tester, or during the design or evaluation phase of the solutions.
    • Work along with Supervisor to monitor and create tools to manage the team.

Job Level Specifications:

  • Work is performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. May receive some limited guidance for new assignments.
  • Collaborates with management and team members within the department/function and other areas of the organization. May represent department internally or externally.
  • Actions may impact the success of the overall department and/or the organization. Failure to accomplish work or erroneous decisions may result in delays, loss of revenue or allocation of additional resources to remedy.

Work Experience:

  • Supplier Operations experience, at least 3 years in SOS team.
