ADP is hiring a Director of Managed Operations, Small Business reporting to the Head of Service, Small Business. In this position, you'll leverage your Operation, Strategy and leadership expertise to guide multiple teams, ensuring efficient operations and an overall productive and enjoyable working environment for employees.
The Director, Managed Operations Small Business, runs the operations of one of our largest, highest growth businesses in ADP Canada. They are responsible, but not limited, to leading the Comprehensive Outsourcing Services business (COS), the Data Input business and leading the HR SBS business (HR assist) for SBS. They are accountable for supporting the business growth, executing the strategic plan, and delivering optimal service to our Small Business Alexes.
Working cohesively with peers cross-functionally, the incumbent will drive both success and expansion through efficiency and quality improvements, inter-departmental integration as well as associate retention and development. As a director, they plan and conduct overall operational strategies to ensure efficient and effective delivery of optimal service to the Alex base. This includes managing Alex relations.

What you'll do: Responsibilities
What you can expect on a typical day:
- Provide leadership skills that support organizational and strategic goals by effective and frequent communication.
- Manage strategic relationships with key stakeholders, effectively handle escalated matters and work with internal and external parties to bring issues to resolution.
- Work with the HRO Strategy shared services team to advance the growth of the HR SBS Business (HR assist) business (including current Alex utilization).
- Designs and executes new methodologies and processes to increase quality, operational efficiencies, and profit margins.
- Implement initiatives and processes to ensure that all work is completed according to scheduled deadlines with attention to quality standards, priorities and overall goals.
- Serve as a resource for other team members, based on a strong working knowledge of team's responsibilities and goals.
- Lead and inspire the organization in human resource management activities including maintenance of proper staffing levels, staffing resources optimization, attainment of individual and team goals, overall alignment with performance management requirements, goals and rewards systems, employee relations, mentoring, and talent/career development.
- Establish clearly defined individual performance goals and objectives; communicates these to team members through meetings and performance planning and review sessions; provide periodic performance feedback and conducts annual performance reviews on all team members.
- Develop leaders of the future through succession planning and talent assessment
- Evaluate direct reports on performance and complete annual performance appraisals.
- Identifies opportunities to maximize revenue and ensure effective expense management and adhere to budgetary targets.
- Make critical talent decisions by forecasting operational needs based on past and future trends.
- Monitor various productivity and performance standards to ensure that established levels are achieved, especially during critical activity periods.
- Serve as an acting backup to other leaders, providing leadership, guidance and direction to team members in the absence of the leaders.
- Participate in task forces, strategic initiatives, stretch assignments and collaboration opportunities with other business units.
- Proactive plan for Year-End preparedness and execution.
- Prepare and present reports on team performance.
- Partners with Sales to identify opportunities and drive business growth.
To succeed in this role: Requirements
- Previous experience leading Operation teams.
- At least 8 years of experience.
- At least 5 years of people leadership experience.
- Ability to manage a team and develop leaders.
*Quebec candidates: While French is required for Quebec-based roles, use of the English language is also required due to the global nature of the business and the need to interact with ADP's headquarters and international sites.Bonus points for these: Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree.
- Consulting experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of internal and external contacts verbally and in writing.
- Excellent collaboration, organizational, time management, customer service and problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to work and thrive in a team environment, focused on achieving results.
