The Material Support Technician position is a key role in a friendly, motivated team in the Animal Services Division, providing laboratory animal care and technical support to research teams across campus.
With no two days being the same, this role is integral to the support of the University's research groups by providing high quality, best practice animal care to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and biosecurity.
The Material Support Team are responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment across the University's animal care facilities. The successful applicant will be able to work in a fast-paced, highly repetitive and physical environment and understand the importance of following procedures, will have demonstrated good attention to detail, a strong work ethic, accurate record keeping skills and the capacity to work in a team environment.
We are looking for a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and clients. Highly developed organizational skills and effective self-management are key. Experience working in science or animal care are desirable.
This position is not suitable for candidates who have a rodent allergy.
The Animal Services is a key research infrastructure component of the University's biology and medical research disciplines and provides vital research services across the University and wider Australian research community. It supports biomedical research activities by providing high standards of animal health, welfare, biosecurity and regulatory compliance.
