Human Resources Assistant (Employee Engagement & AR Support)

Location: Harrisonburg, VA Area

Full-Time | On-Site

Position Overview

The Human Resources Assistant will support day-to-day HR functions with a strong emphasis on employee engagement, recognition programs, morale initiatives, and retention efforts. This role will also provide cross-functional administrative support to the Accounts Receivable team when needed. We are looking for someone who naturally builds relationships, enjoys organizing events, and understands that culture drives retention. This person will serve as a connector within the organization someone who shakes hands, checks in, celebrates milestones, and helps create an environment where employees feel valued and appreciated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Engagement & Culture
    • Coordinate and manage Employee of the Month programs
    • Plan and execute employee birthday celebrations and milestone recognitions
    • Assist with organizing employee appreciation events and morale initiatives
    • Support retention strategies through employee check-ins and feedback gathering
    • Help develop internal engagement campaigns and culture-building activities
    • Maintain recognition boards, internal communications, and celebration calendars
  • HR Administrative Support
    • Assist with onboarding processes and new hire welcome coordination
    • Maintain employee records and HR documentation
    • Support internal communications and policy distribution
    • Assist with employee inquiries in a professional and confidential manner
  • Accounts Receivable Support (Backup Role)
    • Provide administrative backup to the AR team as needed
    • Assist with invoice tracking and documentation
    • Support recordkeeping and data entry
    • Coordinate internally to ensure timely follow-up on receivables

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in Human Resources, Administrative Support, or Office Coordination

Strong interpersonal skills comfortable engaging with employees at all levels

Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

Professional, approachable, and discreet with confidential information

Experience in manufacturing or production environments is a plus
