Process Control Engineer
Employer: WestRock Services, LLC (d/b/a Smurfit Westrock) Job Title: Process Control Engineer, Chemical Recovery and Utilities (multiple openings) Job Location: 1000 Abernathy Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30328 Job Type: Full Time Travel: Yes - Domestic travel up to 60% Telecommute: Yes - Work may be performed anywhere in the United States.
Job Duties:
- Field incoming problems from end users to support the efficient operation of all power and utilities equipment within the WestRock mill system.
- Perform hands-on fixes at the control system and instrumentation level for all power and utilities control system operations.
- Manage and/or assist in the deployment of new control system configurations, hardware, and infrastructure.
- Provide continuous monitoring of APC, control loop, and equipment performance.
- Develop, execute, and assist in optimization efforts at all mill facilities.
- Support and development of all control schemes that are related to the Chemical Recovery & Utilities areas.
- Develop and maintain standardized control system narrative database for each equipment type.
- Serve as primary liaison between the EMS E&C Group and the Operations Steering teams for your assigned process area.
- Provide technical assistance to mills as requested.
- Facilitate the transfer of Best Practices/Technology between the mills.
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans.
- Collaborate with engineering consultants, manufacturers, and third-party integrators during conceptual design.
- Review project SAMA’s, narratives, specifications, and other documents produced by engineering consultants, manufacturers, and third-party integrators to verify technical accuracy.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of DCS, QCS, PLC and other control systems.
- Design, implement, commission, and maintain mill wide APC application deployments.
- Support capital projects and provide technical support in the 30 WestRock paper mills and 3 extrusion plants in the USA, Canada, Brazil and India.
- Provide continuous monitoring of OT networks at WestRock’s 30 North American paper mills and 3 extrusion plants.
- Develop, execute, and assist in proactive maintenance on WestRock OT systems.
- Support of OT systems including networks, virtual systems, servers, switches, and associated hardware.
- Maintain system backups of hardware and software configuration of WestRock OT systems.
Requirements:
Employer will accept a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and 10 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. Position requires experience in the following:
- 10 years of process control engineering or related experience in an industrial environment.
- Experience in the operation, installation, startup, and maintenance of boilers and their supporting equipment.
- Experience applying statistics to assess control loop performance, dynamic models, variability characteristics and improvement opportunities.
- Experience tuning and optimizing process equipment online.
- Experience in MD and CD controls.
- Experience with OSI PI.
- Experienced in engineering, maintenance and troubleshooting in instrumentation, valves for industrial processes.
- Experience in ICS design, implementation, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Experience in OT Networking for ICS.
- Experience with Control Station, Plant ESP & Loop-Pro software.
