Retirement Services Director

We are seeking an innovative, customer-focused leader to serve as our Retirement Services Director. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record supporting financial advisors, record keepers, and TPAs with complex retirement needs. This leader will oversee a high-performing team, and partner record keepers, ensuring advisor issues are resolved promptly and accurately. With a relentless drive for continuous improvement, the Retirement Services Director will champion process enhancements, deliver rapid and fair solutions to record keeper challenges. Building strong relationships across direct reports, advisors, cross-functional teams, and strategic partners is essential. The Director will execute a robust people engagement strategy—coaching, developing, and empowering the team to consistently achieve key performance indicators and deliver exceptional service.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Phoenix, AZ office.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership.
  • Shape and communicate a compelling vision for the retirement services function.
  • Independently lead change initiatives that elevate service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed key performance indicators by driving process improvements, fostering team accountability and ensuring exceptional client outcomes.
  • Oversee and manage record keeper and custodial relationships to ensure advisors have an exceptional experience.
  • Resolve client issues swiftly and fairly, ensuring long-term satisfaction.
  • Inspire and motivate a multi-generational workforce, fostering inclusion and collaboration.
  • Build trust and resilience within the team, promoting a culture of excellence and integrity.
  • Develop talent through coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities.
  • Influence across boundaries to align diverse perspectives and drive enterprise-wide impact.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Proven experience in retirement plan administration (401(k), 403(b), SIMPLE IRA, Solo(k), Defined Benefit plans.
  • Demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams and shaping organizational culture.
  • Demonstrated willingness and capability to dive deep into service and operational details, proactively addressing daily challenges.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Expertise in working with recordkeepers, TPAs, financial advisors, and plan participants.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and execution.
  • 5-years' progressive leadership experience in retirement services, with a proven track record of directly partnering with financial advisors, recordkeepers and TPAs to deliver exceptional outcomes.

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $130,000-$150,000. This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
