Job Summary: The Electrical Field Engineer is responsible for preparing technical deliverables for all project phases following established engineering principles, procedures, and criteria in a single or multidiscipline environment. This position provides electrical engineering expertise, develops design drawings, performs engineering calculations, estimates, and ensures deliverables conform to customer documents, field philosophy, and applicable code and industry standard requirements.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform engineering analysis of projects including calculations and equipment selection for all project phases.
  • Conduct surveys and gather field data as required.
  • Prepare and interpret drawings, including schematic drawings, layouts, and other visual aids.
  • Prepare engineering scopes of work, schedules, and cost estimates for all project phases.
  • Prepare fabrication and construction scopes of work, specifications, material take-offs (MTO), and change requests.
  • Perform estimating duties as required. Identify scope of work or design basis changes and initiate change management documents.
  • Ensure supplier data and drawings are in compliance with project design specifications.
  • Prepare and update status reports, forecasts, and related project controls tools.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide feedback to discipline lead engineers regarding progress on assigned tasks.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Maintain basic understanding of Alaska Workers' Compensation Law and OSHA record keeping guidelines.
  • Support the AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Other duties assigned.

Required Experience:

  • Possess a Valid Driver's License.
  • Have an Electrician Journeyman License in the state of Alaska.
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • The ability to work 80.5 – 84 hours a week on a 3x3 rotation.
  • A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience as an E/I Field Engineer.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Journeyman Electrician.

Preferred Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience working as an E/I Field Engineer or Journeyman Electrician in the Oil and Gas industry, Petrochemical industry, on the North Slope, or in an Arctic environment is preferred.

Working on the North Slope: While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment requirements outlined below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. A post-offer, pre-hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to ensure an employee's ability to safely meet job standards.
