Aspire Indiana Health is a nonprofit provider of comprehensive "whole health" services including primary medical care, behavioral health, recovery services and programs addressing the social determinants of health such as housing and employment. Aspire has health centers in five Central Indiana counties serving Hoosiers of all ages and walks of life.

Position Summary

The Food Services Assistant will assist the Supervisor of Food Services in all areas of the kitchen and will be present during meal times when the supervisor is not present. The Food Services Assistant will prepare meals and maintain organization and cleanliness in the kitchen, work with the Supervisor of Food Services to plan meals and maintain adequate stock, and oversee kitchen detail and other resident staff in the kitchen. This individual will also supervise monthly clean up in the kitchen, report problems or issues concerning kitchen operations to the Supervisor of Food Services and assist in staffing, planning, and preparing special house events. This individual will also supervise and accompany residents when using the van for house business, and will use the van for food donations and other necessary pick-ups.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • At least one (1) year food service or restaurant experience required
  • Working knowledge of food borne illnesses
  • Superior standards for cleanliness
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work without supervision
  • Ability to read and follow a recipe
  • Knowledge of 12 step recovery and Progress House function is helpful

Certification

  • ServSafe Certification required

  • Excellent work ethic and must be willing to work evening hours and/or weekends and holidays and the ability to work without supervision
  • Must be able to follow routine verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to read and follow a recipe and be able to understand and follow safety procedures
  • Must have superior standards for cleanliness and be able to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting
  • Must possess/maintain a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance and a driving record that meets the guidelines and requirements of the organization
  • Must have reliable transportation
