PRN Certified Nurse Midwife For Maternity Services

Ascension Seton Hays is looking for a PRN Certified Nurse Midwife for Maternity Services to join our elite team!

As a CNM in Maternity Services with Ascension Hays, your responsibilities will include management and delivery of uncomplicated/low risk patients, phone triage, Labor and Delivery triage, and assisting in cesarean sections. You will also share postpartum and antepartum discharging. You will perform some preliminary consults on OB patients under 20 weeks and Gyn patients in the Emergency Department. You will work alongside a team of physicians. This is solely hospital-based.

Position Highlights:

  • Full scope midwifery without clinic hours
  • Cross training to first assist c-sections
  • No call schedule

Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent and collaborative primary healthcare and management of care to women before, during and after pregnancy, including care of the newborn.
  • Develop a comprehensive plan of care and discharge plan based on the assessment and integration of the medical plan.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Provide education/counseling to patient and patient's family with respect to pregnancy, childbirth, care of the newborn, contraception, family planning and gynecological care.
  • Provide care in the context of promoting age and culture-appropriate informed choices, shared decision-making and the right to self-determination.

Requirements

  • Licensure / Certification / Registration:
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Certified Nurse Midwife credentialed from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
    • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Education:
    • Master's or Doctorate of Science in Nursing or Midwifery or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
