We are currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural team within the Arup Amsterdam office. As a senior structural engineer at Arup, you will be part of our property, science, and industry team. We work on challenging and leading projects ranging from laboratories, data centres, museums, commercial and residential buildings. We are at the forefront of timber hybrid design in our work on iconic high rise buildings in the Netherlands such as Haut and Elements. Sustainable design choices are central to our projects. We do this based on our conviction and strategy 'sustainable development is everything'.

As Senior Structural Engineer at Arup, you will:

Lead our structural engineering project teams in the delivery of design across medium to large-scale projects. As the structural subdiscipline lead, you'll take ownership of the structural design, calculations, and finite element analyses, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and budget control.

Champion sustainable design solutions and drive innovation by working together with our digital design engineers to develop automated analysis workflows and parametric models that optimise outcomes—helping us evolve in a changing world.

Play a key role in business development by leveraging your existing professional network to create new business streams and support the growth of our structural engineering practice.

Does this role inspire you?

For this role at Arup, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has a Bachelors or Master's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with a sound knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals.
  • Has above 15+ years of designing experience.
  • Has a proven track record of project delivery and ability to perform in a deadline environment.
  • Has finite element and other structural software skills (e.g. Oasys GSA, SAP, MIDAS, etc.).
  • Has experience in timber and timber hybrid design.
  • Is experienced in structural design of reinforced concrete and steel structures, both in preliminary and construction phases.
  • Is experienced in working in multidisciplinary environments and delivering multidisciplinary projects.
  • Is fluent in DUTCH and English, both spoken and written.
  • Is highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges in a collaborative and international environment.
  • Shares the same ethos and values as Arup and sees yourself as an ambassador.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Has a history of technical presentations and technical writing.
  • Has experience or interest in Structural Engineering Sustainability.
  • Has evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular fields.
  • Has skills in planning, organizing and building a team.
