Water Infrastructure Project Manager

Arup has a long track record in the UK water industry working with all the major water companies, risk management authorities and government. In the current round of procurement for the AMP8 frameworks Arup recently secured major framework commissions with Dลตr Cymru Welsh Water, Southern Water, Thames Water and United Utilities. Through these frameworks we'll be delivering environmental improvements across the UK and informing strategic long-term planning.

The role involves leading the planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, such as pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, and treatment facilities. You will be involved in undertaking concept, outline & detail design and construction support on various infrastructure and non-infra schemes while managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities. The position ensures adherence to environmental, health and safety, and CDM regulations, supports the mentoring of junior engineers, and promotes knowledge sharing. Additionally, it contributes to innovation in sustainable design, climate resilience, and the adoption of digital engineering practices. We can offer the flexibility to work from our London or Midwest office locations.

We're looking for the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:

  • Qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or equivalent or working towards.
  • Demonstrable experience in the water sector.
  • Familiarity with BIM would be desirable.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Desirable Experience working with UK water utilities (e.g., Thames Water, Welsh Water, Severn Trent).
  • Ideally Knowledge of AMP cycles and regulatory frameworks (e.g., Ofwat).
