Fixed Income Operations Associate
Artisan Partners Limited Partnership is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and accounting-minded associate within the fixed income operations team. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of books and records for investment strategies holding primarily corporate bonds and bank loans. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing daily processes such as reconciliations, vendor oversight, trade fail monitoring, corporate action and loan amendment processing, as well as other operational controls that support fixed income portfolio management.
The right candidate for this role needs to have a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of the securities trade lifecycle and investment accounting acumen. The fixed income operations associate will support middle office functions and be expected to effectively coordinate and communicate internally and externally with colleagues and interested parties requiring the associate to be proactive, responsive and demonstrate solid communication skills.
Responsibilities
The candidate can expect to:
- Perform daily position, cash, and transaction reconciliations between internal records, service providers, and counterparties
- Investigate and resolve breaks promptly, escalating issues as necessary
- Maintain accurate security master data and ensure timely updates to key systems
- Provide oversight of third-party service providers to ensure delivery in line with agreed service standards
- Oversee the investigation and resolution of trade fails in coordination with service providers, custodians, and internal teams
- Track, review, and process corporate action events and loan amendments, ensuring timely and accurate communication of decisions
- Reconcile corporate action proceeds and loan amendments between internal books and records, service providers and custodians
- Maintain reporting controls to meet compliance and audit standards
- Maintain proper supporting documentation related to operational controls to ensure compliance and audit requirements are met
- Suggest and implement process improvements, particularly those which leverage systems and technology
- Other responsibilities as required, including preparation of regulatory reports and reconciliation of internal and external records
- Actively participate in projects and initiatives as needed
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics required
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience
- Willingness to perform structured tasks with a high sense of urgency and excellent attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking; innate sense of concern and ability to identify and escalate issues
- Solid understanding of accounting, audit and control principles
- Ability to cope with changes & uncertainty and maintain a client-service mentality
- Works effectively with internal and external partners, from peer group to senior managers or service providers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Bloomberg AIM and PORT preferred
- Previous financial services experience required
- Available to work through evening critical processing times (generally through 5:30PM weekdays)
