Sam's Club Tech – Advertising Tech(MAP)

Sam's Club is our membership warehouse club, a business model that provides our members with high-quality products at prices that are unrivaled by traditional retail. This engineer will partner with WMT platforms to add capabilities to support leveraging WMT marketing tools to reduce dependencies on external partners. This supports in house Epsilon support, Artemis migration as well as working features to support personalization. This is a key role to work with 4-5 Sam's team and 4-5 WMT teams in order to deliver. They will own the Audience Builder product which holds all marketing and personalization audiences. Supports external marketing partners and internal.

Sam's Club Tech – Advertising Tech(MAP) team focuses on:

  • Consolidate and standardize all connections to external systems and programmatic exchanges.
  • Provide a unified create/read/update/delete API for operations across all of the third-party systems
  • Provide a normalized view of campaigns and metrics from these different sources for other systems to use.
  • Generate insights and reports for advertiser campaigns in both real-time and batch mode.
  • Collect and aggregate ad delivery metrics (real-time impression, viewability etc.).
  • Partner with DS to build and enhance sales lift methodologies, including synthetic control, ghost ads etc.
  • Build and operate a data warehouse for analytics and business operations.
  • Expose all reports via reporting APIs and data tables.
  • Collaborate with engineering and infra teams to build a ML and experimentation platform.
  • Ownership of ML models for audience targeting. Build and improve relevance and ranking models for ad serving.
  • Ownership of lift measurement methodology, and support enhancement of attribution models and buyer analytics.

What you'll do:

  • Assists in providing guidance to a large group of 8 to 10 engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects.
  • Provides support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Manages small to large-sized complex projects by reviewing project requirements.
  • Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information.
  • Participates in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design.
  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans.
  • Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions.
  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor of Science and 8 years' experience or Master of Science with 6 years' experience in software engineering.
  • 6+ years of experience in software development, focusing on distributed systems.
  • Strong back-end development experience developing in Java/Scala/Python.
  • Spring Boot development (5+ years within enterprise environment).
  • Have proficient knowledge and experience with Kafka, Cassandra, Solr, Elastic Search, SQL, cosmos, Spring frameworks and databases like Postgres or a comparable database.
  • Knowledge of technologies used in building scalable, distributed systems in virtualized cloud environments (Azure & GCP) and Cloud deployments.
  • Ability to design for fault tolerance and high availability.
  • Preferred experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Basic familiarity with continuous integration tools and frameworks like Jenkins, etc.
  • Experience in production system operations (logging, telemetry, alerting etc.).
  • Program metrics; Program Reporting, logging tools and processes; Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CICD)
  • Defect life-cycle process, defect tracking tools and methodologies; Defect reporting; Regression testing; Root cause analysis; Root cause corrective action.
  • Strong knowledge on Automated Testing Frameworks.
  • Strong DevOps Orientation
