One of our manufacturing partners in Fayetteville, AR is seeking an experienced Design Engineering Manager to provide leadership and technical design support for the development of new products, fixtures, tooling, and special machinery that will result in increasing productivity, improving reliability, or enhancing product quality. The Design Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team that generates solid models for manufacturing tooling and fixtures along with detailed dimensioned drawings.
Responsibilities include: aligning the design engineering team with organizational goals, providing day-to-day management of the design engineering group, using a strong analytical approach to problem-solving and creating cost-effective solutions, driving operational excellence, completing all project assignments within established scope, budget, and schedule, generating solid models for manufacturing tooling and fixtures along with detailed dimensioned drawings, providing technical review, understanding, and recommendations of sketches, descriptions, and specifications provided by engineers, developing prototypes for new equipment and fixture designs and executing testing on said prototypes, as necessary, coordinating fabrication efforts with the Tool Room and Maintenance departments, leading and collaborating on designs in a team environment, including formal design reviews, and other tasks and project work, as assigned.

Skills and requirements include: possessing an engineering degree from an accredited university, mechanical degree highly preferred, 8-10+ years of hands-on relevant design experience, design experience from concept to completion, prior tool and die, product development, and/or fixture design experience, previous leadership experience leading technical design engineers, 1000+ hours experience using 3D CAD software, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent CAD software, strong familiarity with Machinery's Handbook, a strong understanding of manufacturing processes (milling, turning, welding, etc.) and their limitations, demonstrated ability to interpret 2D mechanical drawings and generating creative solutions to unique design challenges, and willingness to "roll up sleeves and do what needs to get done" to consistently deliver results. Ability to navigate ambiguous situations, influence peers and drive execution.
