Medtronic's Test Development Team in Tempe, Arizona, is looking for a Test Development Engineer II to develop firmware and Automated Test Equipment software to support manufacturing electrical test and perform mixed signal analysis for PCB level and device level integrated system level testing. We work onsite a minimum of four out of five days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

A Day in the Life – responsibilities may include:

  • Design, develop, and implement testing methods to detect manufacturing defects in custom ultra-low power electronic systems.
  • Develop firmware-based solutions in C as needed to meet specific test requirements.
  • Develop test methods in Test Stand, LabView, or C++ depending upon which Automated Test Equipment (ATE) is utilized for any given test application.
  • Investigate issues with test applications released to production and implement changes as needed.
  • Responsible for documenting the test methodologies and executing verification & validation of test applications per the Test Application Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Verify and debug custom hardware designed to fulfill electrical test requirements.
  • Utilize statistical analysis tools to identify improvements to a test application.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal functions to define test requirements, test methods, and improvement opportunities.

Must Have:

  • BS degree and a minimum of 2 years of Engineering experience OR an MS Degree with no relevant experience or a PhD

Nice to Have:

  • Working experience with embedded system and firmware/software development
  • Developing software applications using ATE.
  • C/C++ programming experience
  • Troubleshooting experience on hardware and software issues using electrical lab equipment.
  • Experience designing and understanding electrical schematics.
  • Fundamental statistical analysis techniques.
  • Fundamental project management skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work and contribute in a team environment.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $83,200.00 – $124,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
