This position is located at Walgreens in Buckeye, Arizona, United States. The role involves performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, administrative activities, and ensuring efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. The individual will serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician, responsible for operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist. They will also supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers within the guidelines of authorized company policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics.
The candidate will engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer complaints, and responding to customers' requests in a timely manner. They will develop strong relationships with customers by anticipating customer needs and proactively offering services to provide the best experience possible when using the pharmacy.
Additionally, the role includes assisting the pharmacist in the delivery of patient care, including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications for patients, counting, and verifying (where allowed by law). The individual will also be responsible for managing core pharmacy workflow and driving excellence in pharmacy operations, coordinating and organizing pharmacy daily schedule of activities, and ensuring the pharmacy is clean, neat, orderly, and stocked with adequate supplies.
The candidate will lead performance management of technicians, making decisions and recommendations regarding discipline and termination, and will be accountable for technician hiring, on-boarding, training, and scheduling. They will also ensure proper procedures are followed for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as required by Company policy and local, state, and federal laws.
The position requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico), and one year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is also required (except in Puerto Rico). The candidate must be willing to work flexible schedules, including evening and weekend hours, and obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations).
