Job Title

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and directing the administrative activities of a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals.
  • Overseeing the provision of the best possible patient care to the inmate population.
  • Providing inpatient and outpatient care in either an institution setting or at a local hospital.
  • Managing procurement systems to provide adequate levels of medical, surgical, dental, and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Developing and coordinating internal review systems to assure compliance of the standards of the American Correctional Association and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations.
  • Implementing the agency's re-entry initiatives.
  • Ensuring the provision of release medications and electronic transmission of health records to community healthcare providers.
  • Maintaining security of the institution.

Qualifications:

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements.

Basic Requirements:

  • Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study – hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.
  • OR Specialized Experience: Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field.

Applicants must also possess:

  • Management ability to delegate authority, evaluate and oversee people and programs, recognize and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of the interrelationships and interdependencies among various medical and administrative services and programs.

In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements, applicants must have the following:

  • Education: GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
  • OR Experience: GS-11 and GS-12: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
  • OR Combination of Education and Experience: GS-11 Only: A combination of education and experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the major duties of this position as described above.
