Performance Engineer Intern

DEPCOM Power is seeking a contribution-motivated and detail-oriented Performance Engineer Intern to join our team for Summer 2026. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of engineering within the renewable energy sector. As a Performance Engineering Intern, you will work closely with experienced performance engineers and Operations & Maintenance staff to support optimized energy production of Photovoltaic Solar (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) power plants located throughout the continental United States. This role is primarily office-based in either Bedminster, NJ or Scottsdale, AZ.

What You Will Do:

  • Ensure high-quality, validated datasets from operational power plants to enable reliable performance analysis and decision-making.
  • Deliver actionable key performance indicators (KPIs) through intuitive web-based dashboards that drive continuous plant performance improvements.
  • Produce timely and accurate technical project performance reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) that support strategic review and stakeholder communication.
  • Verify that electrical drawings and technical documentation comprehensively represent system elements, enhancing the accuracy of data analytics insights.
  • Identify root causes and provide insights into mechanical and electrical system failure modes to support prevention and reliability enhancement efforts.
  • Improve efficiency and accuracy in data extraction and report generation processes, reducing cycle times and increasing data usability via computer programming.
  • Communicate progress and challenges effectively in team meetings, fostering collaboration and alignment on project objectives.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications):

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or technical study (i.e. Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Science, or related field). Eligible for full time employment on or before Summer 2027.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the U.S. for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or sponsorship.

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience with coding languages such as Python.
