Production Assistant Operator

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Production Assistant Operator in our Tucson, AZ location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

Job Overview: Support the production of highly engineered aerospace fasteners as formed from exotic alloy wire on precision high-speed heading equipment. The purpose of this position is to perform activities that would otherwise prevent the machine operator from keeping the machine running. This position will support approximately eight machines and operators at one time.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

• Moving raw material from various areas to headers
• Manage and keep wire storage organized while following required rules and regulations
• Operate a variety of mobile equipment (Forklifts, walkies, etc)
• Help shipping and receiving when receiving new wire and raw material shipments
• Manage oil storage and crushed can area while following required rules and regulations
• Coordinate with procurement on oil ordering
• 5S of oil storage and raw material warehouse
• Keep WIP queues filled with wire that is next needed
• Assist in oil changes on headers
• Assist when available to retrieve tooling and gaging
• Maintain, clean and secure work area and tools
• Secure equipment when not in use
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Adhere to Howmet EH&S, Quality, Continuous Improvements and other Company Policies

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.
• The position will physically require the incumbent to perform duties standing, walking, overhead reaching, lifting (35 – 40lbs), pushing and pulling totes, and leaning over machines, all equally on a regular basis.
• Attention to detail and strong communication skills are required. Previous experience within a manufacturing environment is desired or have a background working with machinery.
• Must be able to walk continuously for hours, capable of lifting 25 pounds, certification in mobile equipment, ability to converse with others in a supplier/customer relationship. Training in oil storage and handling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Forklift certification
• Strong Mechanical Aptitude
• Experience in Aerospace manufacturing or related field
• Experience in Oil Handling or similar EHS materials
