Principal Systems Integration And Test Engineer

The SE&TC organization is searching for a Principal Systems Integration and Test Engineer with passion for autonomous vehicle system integration, and test.

The Principal Systems Integration and Test Engineer works within the Land and Air Defense Strategic Business Unit that operates through coordination across all other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) among disciplines and is accountable for sub-system and system level test execution throughout the lifecycle of the program. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, integrating, and testing land platform integration, autonomous vehicle development and will be comfortable working in a technically challenging and fast-paced environment. They will work collaboratively with leadership and across disciplines to align to program objectives, and test plans to maximize test coverage, coordinate test events and resources, perform hands on integration and testing, and brief results to leadership. They will coordinate with test facilities and make critical decisions regarding test strategies, venues, and scenarios. This will require the Principal Systems Integration and Test Engineer to work across the Raytheon business and utilize past experience to leverage technology and resources needed by the program. This position may require travel (up to 50%) to test ranges, supplier, and customer sites.

What You Will Do

  • Operate and test autonomous vehicles in expeditionary terrains, adverse weather conditions, and realistic operational scenarios to verify system performance.
  • Perform weapon and platform integration, characterization, and field testing on autonomous vehicles to ensure the system under test performs according to specifications/requirements.
  • Support field testing and occasional travel for durations typically for a one- to three-week duration.
  • Utilize metrics and tracking tools to log, categorize, and escalate issues effectively. Perform data reduction and analysis, document test results, anomalies, and observations to engineering and leadership.
  • Collaborate across teams to test process improvements and recommend corrections/changes.

Please note: This position requires you to work on site. No remote work available.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Requires a Bachelors in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or Math and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Unmanned Ground Vehicles, autonomous vehicle testing, or robotics experience.
  • Experience in troubleshooting issues, designing and carrying out diagnostic experiments, and thoughtfully interpreting experimental results.
  • Experience with data logging, telemetry, or system performance analysis.
  • Experience creating and modifying documentation in support of reviews associated with formal testing, which may include Test Readiness Review (TRR), Consent to Ship (CTS) and Test Data Review (TDR) packages.
  • Experience working closely with Suppliers and U.S. Government stakeholders with regards to System Integration and Test activities and leading or supporting field tests and systems deployed in the field.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience evaluating requirements and with Verification and Validation methods.
  • Experience with CAN-BUS interface and vehicle diagnostics.
  • Experience in developing with C++ and Python in a Linux environment.
  • Familiar with the DoD acquisition process and proposal development.
  • Experience working with robotics systems including familiarity with ROS 2.
  • Relevant experience with Platform/System Integration and Checkout activities including but not limited to integration of electrical/mechanical/digital products, leading the effort, quality history recording/VCRM, and prototype hardware sell-off.

Security Clearance: This position requires a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD.
