The purpose of this position is to provide quality food service to patients, employees and guests through food preparation, service and sanitation. This position is located at Chinle Service Unit, Chinle Comprehensive Healthcare Facility, Division of Administrative Services, Dietary Services.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares beverages, uncooked food items nourishments, supplemental feeding and special formulas according to standardized recipes.
• Sets up assigned station on the tray line with correct supplies and food items.
• Serves and replenishes cafeteria lines at scheduled times.
• Using established policies and procedures, maintains a sanitary, safe working environment for employees & workers.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children.
• A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
• Hours of duty are rotating and include holidays, nights, and weekend shifts.
• Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Basic Requirement(s): There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Work Practices Physical Requirements: Work involves moderate physical effort. Able to frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 40lbs unassisted, and greater than 40lbs assisted, and can work on ladders. Subject to continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and sitting. Performs heavy-duty cleaning tasks using powered cleaning equipment, as appropriate. Working Conditions: Regularly exposed to noise variations, hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, extreme temperature changes, humidity, potentially hazardous chemicals, slippery floors, and enclosed areas. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Education: There are no education requirements.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. At least a 6 month service agreement will be required. You will be evaluated for this position in accordance with the OPM Merit Hiring Plan.
