Copy / Printing Technician

The Printing Technician supports emergency response operations by deploying with a mobile copy and print unit to disaster-affected areas. Working under field conditions, this position operates high-volume printing, copying, and scanning equipment to provide timely and accurate document support for incident management teams and responders. Technicians must be prepared to live and work in mobile basecamp settings that offer basic amenities but can be physically and logistically demanding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy to disaster response sites with a mobile copy service trailer, often on short notice.
  • Operate commercial-grade digital printers, copiers, scanners, and finishing equipment in the field.
  • Produce high-priority documents such as ICS forms, plans, maps, and reports during active incidents.
  • Prioritize multiple requests under pressure while ensuring accuracy and professionalism.
  • Maintain equipment, manage supplies, and perform basic troubleshooting in mobile environments.
  • Uphold document security and confidentiality in line with incident protocols.
  • Assist with setup, maintenance, and demobilization of the mobile unit, including generator operation.
  • Coordinate with logistics and command staff to meet evolving print and copy needs.

Field Conditions and Deployment Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to camp onsite in mobile basecamps during deployments.
  • Field conditions typically include access to showers and the internet, though other services may be limited.
  • Meals and travel expenses are provided during deployments in accordance with company policy.
  • May involve extended shifts, irregular hours, and multi-day or multi-week assignments.
  • Living quarters may include tents or trailers with shared facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED. Valid drivers license and clean driving record. Experience operating high-volume printers, copiers, and scanners. Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, and print queue systems. Ability to deploy on short notice and live/work in field conditions. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, rotating shifts, and evolving incident needs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively with diverse teams under stress. High standard of customer service and professionalism, especially in high-pressure or high-tempo environments. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical and procedural instructions. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks in outdoor environments.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting disaster response or field operations. Familiarity with ICS forms, incident planning cycles, and emergency management processes. Experience with portable power systems (generators, solar, inverters) and mobile trailers.

Work Environment:

Based in New River, AZ, with deployments across the region and nation as needed. Field-based; typically, outdoors or in a mobile trailer in disaster zones. Conditions may include long hours, environmental exposure, and basic living accommodations. Requires adaptability, a team-oriented attitude, and a commitment to mission support under pressure.
