Controls Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will execute automation commissioning and validation protocols, troubleshoot and address commissioning and validation non-conformances, and work collaboratively with internal engineers and clients. You will be responsible for providing state-of-the-art control systems aimed at improving efficiency, product quality, and profitability in process manufacturing. You will also define and implement programmable logic controller (PLC) configurations, and oversee the testing and on-site commissioning and qualification of control systems.

Responsibilities:

• Execute automation commissioning and validation protocols.
• Troubleshoot and remediate commissioning and validation non-conformances.
• Collaborate with internal engineers and clients to deliver advanced control systems.
• Define and implement programmable logic controller (PLC) configurations.
• Conduct testing and on-site commissioning and qualification of control systems.

Essential Skills:

• Proficiency in PLC programming and automation.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with troubleshooting PLCs, preferably Rockwell.
• 3+ years of experience in GMP/Pharma/industrial/data environments.
• 3+ years of experience in equipment integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• 3+ years of exposure to safety protocols on construction or project sites.
• Ability to execute assignments with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience with Rockwell: FactoryTalk Suite, RS Logix/Studio 5000, and familiarity with PlantPAx DCS.
• Knowledge of Aveva System Platform and Inductive Ignition Perspective.
• Experience with BACnet and LON controllers, Eclypse Controllers.
• Familiarity with Johnson Controls: Facility Explorer or Metasys controllers, Tridium: Niagara N4.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages such as VBA and Python.
• Knowledge of Kepware OPC server, ThinManager, and VMware is preferred.

Work Environment:

The role involves working in a dynamic environment where control systems are consistently delivered to enable high-quality, high-efficiency, and highly reliable solutions for manufacturing and facilities. There is a 30%-50% travel requirement, primarily to Texas in 2026, with projects on the West Coast in data centers, life sciences, and power and utilities sectors. The role entails working on power monitoring systems and building management systems, involving air motion and cooling systems integration into a common network/controls system. Employees have the option to work onsite in Arizona or travel extensively, with associated benefits such as per diem and travel expenses.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of Tempe, AZ.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr. Direct placement, over $1,000 per diem per week.
