About the Responsibilities: As a CADD Engineering Technician, you'd be responsible for developing electrical wiring diagrams, schematics and single line diagrams, civil, mechanical, architectural and structural drawings using Autodesk vertical engineering CADD products. Some of the duties include:
- Works with marked up documents from engineers, sketches or roughly designed concepts, verbal instructions and be responsible for transforming those instructions into final construction or as-built historical record documents.
- Drawing assignments are predominantly related to water pumping plants and affiliated supporting structures/devices for power and control system type electrical documentation. Understands and Completes drawings in accordance with CAP CADD Standards and internal process specifications.
- Completes other discipline specific drawings (civil, structural and mechanical) as assigned. May involve occasional field site visits for verification of information.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records on project status and daily activities in the Enterprise Work Order System (INFOR).
- Maintains an archive of drawings and technical documentation in the Enterprise Document Management System (OpenText) and designated CADD server file locations. Retrieves, maintains and records drawing related information and generates reports by the use of the Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS) and the (future Autodesk Vault Professional).
- Prepares and assembles final hard copy plan sets and drawing listings for field delivery of vital documents.
- Coordinates and reviews contractor drawing packages to comply with CAP CADD standards.
- Conforms final record drawings using an external CADD file reference (demo and design) process and assists in the file coordination between other projects affected.
- Performs peer reviews and personal reviews of all work packages assigned.
- Makes field visits to CAP asset locations throughout Arizona to meet on projects, gather up-to-date field conditions and measurements, and to update record/project drawing information as needed.
About the Qualifications:
For the CADD Engineering Technician II Position:
- Associate's Degree in CADD or related technical field plus five (5) years of design and drafting experience in any of the following disciplines: electrical, civil, mechanical or structural; OR a high school diploma or equivalent plus seven (7) years of design and drafting experience in any of the following disciplines: electrical, civil, mechanical or structural.
- Demonstrated knowledge of technical drawing, such as schematic design, power and control cabling design, instrumentation installation detail design, loop diagrams, physical layout drawings, as well as, other aspects of power, civil and utility engineering design.
- Must possess logic and math skills sufficient to apply necessary formulae and calculations to solve technical mathematics problems and moderate data calculations.
- Demonstrated ability to operate computerized databases and Autodesk products.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare technical communications both verbal and written.
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD and have a fundamental understanding of most of the following: Autodesk products, Layering Standards, NCS version 5, XREF best practices, and Document Management Systems.
- Ability to produce documents with minimal oversight at a level of high quality in an efficient manner.
- Required Certifications or Licenses:
- Must successfully obtain AutoCAD Professional Certification within six months of the date of hire.
- A valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
For the Senior CADD Engineering Technician Position:
- Associate's Degree in CADD, or closely related technical degree, plus seven (7) years of technical CADD experience in any of the following disciplines: electrical, civil, mechanical or structural; OR a high school diploma/GED plus ten (10) years of technical CADD experience in any of the following disciplines: electrical, civil, mechanical, architectural, structural.
- At least five (5) years of documented advanced paraprofessional technical design experience in any of the following disciplines is required: electrical, civil, mechanical, architectural, structural.
- Ability to effectively organize and enhance the accessibility, review and approval of engineering technical drawings, and other supplementary model files.
- Must have the ability to effectively lead and mentor others.
- Must have excellent time management, organization, and work relationship skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Be a highly motivated, self-starter with excellent organizational and follow-through skills with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare technical communications both verbal and written.
- Ability to produce documents with minimal oversight at a level of high quality in an efficient manner.
- Required Certifications or Licenses:
- Must successfully complete Supervisor provided internal Autodesk Vault Professional Engineering Document Control System training within six (6) months of hire date.
- Must successfully obtain AutoCAD Professional Certification within six months of the date of hire.
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
