AI Engineer

Our client seeks an innovative, hands-on AI Engineer to develop prototypes that solve business problems and integrate AI, ML, and NLP solutions within cloud native environments. The role emphasizes prompt engineering for LLM refinement and collaboration with an energetic team addressing customer challenges through advancing technologies.

Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident with an active Public Trust clearance. This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $55.00 to $60.00/hr. W2

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain an innovation lab for ideation, design, and engineering of cloud native product modernization using emerging technologies.

Develop end-to-end plans for cloud native AI, ML, and NLP innovations compliant with cybersecurity policies.

Engineer pilots, prototypes, and proof of concept solutions to validate emerging technology opportunities.

Optimize LLM responses through iterative prompt engineering refinement.

Implement transparency, traceability, and security handling aligned to best practices and compliance standards including ATO certifications.

Implement predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical analyses to solve complex business problems.

Develop low-risk implementation plans and present briefings, recommendations, and demonstrations to executives and technical stakeholders based on data architecture best practices.

Collaborate with data engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into data-driven solutions.

Conduct exploratory data analysis and generate actionable insights from large and complex datasets.

Support total experience initiatives including customer experience, user experience, and human centered design through focus groups, metrics, wireframes, mockups, and information architecture.

Develop reusable code libraries and best practices for modernization and innovation development and deployment.

Mentor junior data scientists and guide adoption of new technologies and techniques.

Stay current with advancements in data science, machine learning, AI research, and cloud architectures.

Support Agile product teams in integrating and operationalizing emerging technologies and data strategies.

Analyze data and usage to find patterns and solutions to business challenges.

Experience Requirements

Minimum 8 years of experience in data science, analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a similar role.

Experience across data analytics, data modeling, machine learning, natural language processing, security, and AI technologies in cloud native environments (AWS, Azure, Google).

Strong experience in prompt engineering to refine LLM responses.

Track record delivering AI, ML, and NLP innovations and data-driven solutions in cloud native environments.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Programming in Python, R, and SQL.

Experience with AI, ML, and NLP frameworks, models, and tools.

Experience with Terraform and GitLab Pipelines.

Experience with machine learning and statistical tools including PyTorch.

Experience with frontier models.

Experience with Databricks.

Data manipulation and analysis experience.

Visualization with Tableau and Power BI.

Big data and cloud platforms experience: Hadoop, Hive, AWS (S3, SageMaker, Redshift), Azure, and GCP.

Version control and collaboration with Git and Docker.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and continuous residency in the United States for the last 2 years.

Experience with MLOps, model monitoring, and deployment pipelines.

Experience with NLP, computer vision, or deep learning techniques.

Experience with automation of DevSecOps pipelines.

Experience with Agile and the Rally Agile management tool.

Education Requirements

Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. Additional experience may substitute for educational requirements where appropriate.

Familiarity with ATO certifications and applicable compliance standards.

Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance.
