Manager, IT Communications Field Services

At APS, we're building the IT Infrastructure that powers Arizona's future—and keeping our systems connected and reliable is essential to that mission. As Manager of IT Communications Field Services, you'll lead the delivery of OT/IT services across multiple states, ensuring the technology that supports our energy generation, transmission, and distribution runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently.

This is a leadership role where you'll manage frontline supervisors and staff people, processes, and technology to drive operational excellence and innovation. You'll be the bridge between IT and the field—helping our teams deliver safe, reliable energy while modernizing how we work.

What your day would be like:

You are responsible for:

  • Managing multi-state delivery of Integration Services that support generation, transmission, and distribution assets.
  • Leading a team of IT professionals responsible for infrastructure delivery, support, and incident resolution.
  • Partnering with business units, vendors, and field leadership to align technology services with operational needs.
  • Driving strategic direction and continuous improvement in field communications systems to increase performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Overseeing incident management, problem resolution, and break/fix response to ensure minimal disruption to energy operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with security, safety, and regulatory standards across all field communications operations.
  • Providing leadership oversight on teams response to incident management, problem resolution, and break/fix and drives improvements based upon KPIs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Plus eight (8) years of experience in the Information Technology field
  • Plus at least three (3) years in a leadership role, or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • Plus three (3) years prior leadership experience.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • Has advanced knowledge and understanding of electrical utility culture and experience in telecommunications system architecture.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of service offerings; customer service principles; various computer software applications, computer/networking hardware, standard operating systems, and any other computer-related technologies
  • Skills in customer service; interpersonal, written and oral communications; supervising and working collaboratively in teams and across organizations; synthesizing feedback and adjusting plans accordingly; building strong relationships inside and outside the organization; resolving incidents/problems efficiently and effectively.

Major Accountabilities

1) Responsible for multi-state delivery of Integration Services for infrastructure assets to support generation, transmission and distribution of energy 2) Responsible for multi-state troubleshooting and maintenance of infrastructure assets in direct support of the bulk electric system. 3) Responsible for strategic direction for field services assets and personnel to provide business synergies to ensure resource optimization. 4) Guide and direct engineering planning forecasts for reliability programs to ensure highest levels of operational excellence. 5) Establish an operational culture focused on continuous improvement and persistently challenges demand volume to comply with service level agreements. 6) Establish and maintains department-level dashboards of clearly defined key performance indicators (productivity, quality, etc.) for all field operations, ranging from strategic, operational and personnel metrics. 7) Leverages relevant training teams to maintain a continuous learning environment for employee skill development and career growth, and to ensure current and future technologies are well understood and communicated.
