Working under the direction of the Manager of Product Safety, serve as Product Safety Engineer supporting key Business Units and customers in India. Assist with other businesses or Enterprise-wide initiatives as requested by the Senior Director, Product Safety.
Develop a deep understanding of global operations and requirements to effectively assist Business Unit functional owners with programmatic roll-out, integration and implementation.
Apply technical expertise in one or more engineering disciplines, including chemical, mechanical and electrical. Leverage safety knowledge and experiences within the engineering disciplines.
Serve in a consultative capacity with Business Unit stakeholders as the subject matter expert for Product Safety processes, regulations, industry standards and Applied specifications as they pertain to products we develop. Requisite expertise includes, but is not limited to, SEMI S2, SEMI S10, NFPA79, the EU Machinery Directive, EMC Directive, and the Low Voltage Directive.
Apply an array of analysis techniques to evaluate hazards on Applied tools including failure modes and effects cause analysis (FMECA), process hazard analysis (PHA), hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), fishbone and other root cause investigation methods.
Evaluate the introduction of new technologies and products to ensure conformity with applicable regulatory, industry and Applied product safety requirements. Assist in managing complex and/or large scale projects to completion by leveraging technical expertise and experience.
Provide product safety-related input on concept and feasibility studies. Perform product/system safety analysis on components, subsystems, and systems. Prepare periodic and special reports in connection with engineering studies and projects as needed.
Manage 3rd party Product Safety tool assessments, and facilitate the completion of applicable reports such as S2, EMC, NFPA and Machinery Directive. Assist in ensuring the business drives tool assessment corrective actions to completion.
Conduct the initial evaluation of tool-related events, determine the initial risk ranking and assign an incident investigation owner/group to facilitate cause determination and applicable mitigation. Analyze pertinent product safety event data to detect trends and issues that may have global impact or require Enterprise mitigation.
Support Applied Business Units and external customers on complex code compliance questions, legal inquiries, and corporate responsibility objectives.
Assist in the development and implementation of Product Safety policies, programs, procedures and training.
Engage as an Applied representative on EH&S and Product Safety industry and association boards. Provide input to influence development of proposed industry standards in various. Interface and benchmark with company and governmental agencies to benchmark and provide input on trends.
