This is a role that works closely with internal designers and external vendors to enable design that's currently not achievable in the existing supply chain. You will be involved in developing algorithm for equipment and processes to convert an idea in the lab to a mass-produced part. This is a role that requires close collaboration with external vendors, contract manufacturers, and internal teams (design, operation, and so on) to test solution for a new optical module from engineering to mass production phases. Typically, the test solution consists of equipment and a sequence recipe for deployment at the contract manufacturer site. Test engineer is responsible for design of equipment and figure of merit that provides feedback for manufacturing process and module design.

Responsibilities

• Participate in cross-functional group discussion for active alignment, test and characterization of photonics product such as structured light projector, lens or light source
• Derive an evaluation/ test plan for characterizing the optical component/ module/ system
• Propose/ develop figure of merit to support above activities
• Setup and calibrate test solution hardware and software
• Provide signal/ image processing service to other team
• Perform experiment, analyze data using statistical analysis tools
• Participate in optical component design and evaluation

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master/ PhD in Engineering, Physics or Materials or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience in developing test solution for manufacturing of optical component/ module
• Experience on experimental setup (hardware + software) for optical testing
• Experience on building up experimental setup for photonics / optical characterization
• Clear and effective communication skills (written and spoken)

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed to operate laser (eg, Singapore NEA N3 license)
• Experience/ expertise in either 1) optics attach (active alignment) process or 2) optical functionality test of optical devices (for example camera, projector, range finder, flashlight, proximity sensor and etc.)
• Expertise in 1) geometric optics 2) exposure/ understanding on compact optical module (such as camera, proximity and depth sensors)
