We are seeking a hard-working and expert engineering manager to manage a team of talented engineers in the AR/VR and Home product spaces. We are looking for an experienced manager to lead, mentor, and build a team that crafts, develops and deploys calibration and test instrumentation systems for Apple's world-class products. This manager will work closely with multi-functional groups (Design, ME, EE, SW, Ops etc) throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase to ensure the success of current and future Apple products. Responsibilities
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of system integration engineers.
- Leading all aspects of a team to design hardware for instrument systems and guiding the team in maintaining those systems through production.
- Partnering with our mechanical engineering teams to specify and validate the required mechanical fixtures & automation systems.
- Guiding the team in developing, debugging, and optimizing automation software.
- Encouraging a data-driven approach to solve engineering challenges, including the analysis of large amounts of data generated from your team's instrument systems.
- Driving failure mode root cause analysis and resolution, from the system level down to the component level.
- Working closely with Apple EE, product design, firmware, operations, and logistics teams.
- Frequent interactions with CM/vendors and developing SOPs, debug instructions, and documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Engineering or related discipline
- 3+ years of professional experience in design, development, debug, and validation of electro-mechanical systems
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management role
- Solid understanding of consumer electronics modules: transducers (sensors - light/force/pressure/touch/motion, acoustics - speaker/mic) or optical systems (camera, Lidar) or Displays
- Ability to understand and advise team members on technical of hardware concepts (i.e. HW architecture, block diagrams and schematic design, debug interfaces, etc.), and EE fundamentals.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following: C/C++/Objective-C and scripting knowledge (Python, Lua).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to manage many priorities across multiple disciplines.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%)
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing.
- Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) and control systems.
- Experience analyzing and processing large data sets.
- Understanding of test principles, GRR, experience with test automation and optimization.
- Experience managing distributed or remote teams
- Domestic and international travel may be required (up to 20%)
