Software Engineer, Motion Planning

We believe recent breakthroughs in Special Projects has the potential to unlock new experiences that were never possible before, and are looking for talented motion planning software engineers to realize that mission by expanding the capabilities of Apple products and platforms.

As a member of the team, you'll have the opportunity to work with a small team of highly skilled engineers and scientists to bring new experiences to Apple products. This position requires a self-motivated engineer with strong technical and interpersonal skills to handle responsibilities including:

  • Evaluating and debugging a complex motion planning system
  • Designing and implementing APIs to control systems
  • Designing and implementing firmware level features
  • Implementing evaluations for motion planning systems

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Robotics or related field
  • General understanding of optimization methods
  • Ability to break down large features and implement practical solutions
  • Curiosity about new technologies, flexibility, and openness to ambiguity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • iOS Development experience, including experience with Swift and Apple development tools
  • Experience developing firmware level features (e.g. drivers)
  • Experience with system design and hardware integration

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
