We are looking for a driven and passionate Software Engineer to join our team providing leadership in designing solutions to keep up with the rapid pace of innovation. You will work closely with engineering, QA, and project managers to deliver cutting edge automation to solve business use cases, enhance developer efficiency, and to produce high quality products. You will serve as the team lead and primary subject matter expert, providing strategic guidance and cross-functional support to enable effective delivery across teams. Your primary responsibility will be to lead full-stack development of innovative solutions on the Unified Build platform, directly impacting productivity for hundreds of engineers across thousands of projects. You'll also own critical service migrations and develop automation infrastructure that scales impact across the organization. You will need to combine deep technical expertise in JVM build systems, dependency management, and build language architecture with a relentless focus on performance optimization, developer experience, and scalability to transform build complexity into simplicity. You will need to operate effectively in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment, balancing software development and operational support while managing multiple concurrent priorities across complex infrastructure. You will need to exhibit strong leadership skills and intuition to navigate ambiguity, align stakeholders, and drive informed decisions that move the team and organization forward.
Lead and mentor a small team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Contribute directly as an independent contributor alongside your team.
Shape the technical vision and roadmap for Developer Experience initiatives, identifying opportunities to reduce friction, improve tooling, and systematically increase developer velocity across the organization.
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and infrastructure partners across Apple to accelerate delivery of Maps features.
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or similar technical degree
5+ years of full stack development experiencing designing and building complex, highly available, distributed systems.
Proven track record of architecting, developing, releasing, and supporting critically important software components.
Experience leading or mentoring a team of engineers.
Proficiency in Java or JVM languages, JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
Proficient in Java/Scala/Kotlin and scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash)
Proficient in one or more frontend frameworks like React (preferred), Angular, Vue or equivalent.
Experience working with GenAI Coding Assistants.
Experience with AI/ML systems, designing, building, and integrating Machine Learning to solve business problems.
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD practices.
Familiarity with Build Languages (Gradle, Maven, SBT, Make, xcode) and Package Managers.
Familiarity with ML Infrastructure, such as model serving, inference optimizations, and training evaluations.
Strong operational skills and experience supporting Production Services and Infrastructure at scale.
Experience building solutions by integrating with RESTful web services or GraphQL APIs.
Ability to communicate effectively, work independently yet collaboratively, with a distributed team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to learn new technologies.
