Software Engineer, Authentication Experience

We're looking for an engineer to help define the future of password management, enhance the experience of signing in to apps and websites, and lead the world to a more secure future with passkeys. The team owns the Passwords app, Password AutoFill, developer APIs, and other features integrated into iOS and macOS apps. Together, we'll improve people's security, privacy, and quality of life as they create accounts for and sign into the apps and websites they use every day.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and maintaining the password management stack, from the user experience in the cross-platform SwiftUI Passwords app down to the credential storage strategy in iCloud Keychain.
  • Developing new authentication APIs in our public frameworks.
  • Crafting the vision for the future of authentication and moving the world on to passkeys.
  • Improving the AutoFill experience for filling credentials in apps and websites.
  • Collaborating with partner teams, such as Security, Design, and Product Marketing, to deliver new features.
  • Building sustainable architectures and developing test suites to improve and defend quality of our features.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detailed knowledge of any one of: Objective-C, Swift, C++
  • Strong programming, debugging, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional partners in engineering as well as project management, design, and marketing
  • Experience mentoring other engineers
  • Experience driving cross-functional projects from inception to release

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with user interface development with UIKit, AppKit or SwiftUI
  • Comfort evaluating ideas from both a usability and security perspective

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
