Apple designs consumer electronics that have touched millions and changed the way people interact with electronic devices around the world. The Core Algo SW team within Hardware Test Engineering (HWTE) is seeking an Algorithm Software Engineering Manager who will lead a team responsible for designing and developing software algorithms for Apple new product introduction (NPI). This team will work closely with the general test station software platform team and with cross functional technology teams to help ensure the success of current and future Apple products. The projects the Core Algo SW team undertakes vary from the development of core algorithm functional blocks to implementing, streamlining, and stabilizing algorithm pipelines. The algorithms and the resulting pipelines will be used to enable calibration and testing of Apple's customer facing products.

Responsibilities

Specification, development, deployment, and triaging of software used throughout the Apple NPI and manufacturing process. Responsibilities include: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of Algorithm SW Engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and cross-functional partners, effectively communicating technical concepts and progress updates. Design and maintain software systems supporting Algorithm development Triage and diagnose issues with a cross-functional team of diverse engineering backgrounds Work with teams both internal to Apple and from external vendors to define better solutions and processes Identifying and growing strategic skills and algorithm specializations that improve the capabilities of the team

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or equivalent in Computer Science, Physics, or a related field with a focus on Computer Vision and Multi-view Geometry
  • 3+ years of experience as a technical lead in Computer Vision algorithm development, ideally within a cross-functional environment. Proven ability to mentor and guide a team of engineers
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience (internships/co-ops/university experience are applicable)
  • 1+ years of management experience leading an engineering team
  • Extensive hands-on experience in programming with C++ and Python/Matlab
  • API design for libraries & frameworks accounting for versioning, compatibility, etc
  • Fluent in both oral and written English
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; excellent judgment; a self-directed, proactive approach to tackling problems, working through impediments and an ability to generate trust and build alliances with co-workers
  • Up to 10% international travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with team members in different time zones
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to shifting priorities, and dive deep into technical details as needed
  • Deep understanding of algorithm design, development, and validation methodologies
  • Experience with camera calibration is a significant plus
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $198,300 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
