As an engineer in the Special Projects group, you will have an opportunity to be part of an innovation-focused organization within Apple that is exploring integrations between robotics and AI/ML. You will be able to work on highly ambitious, high-reward, and impactful projects in the early stages of development. This team has a strong focus on shipping simulations in service of AI/ML projects. We use both traditional and generative AI techniques in simulation. As a member of the team, you'll have the opportunity to work with a team of highly skilled engineers and scientists to bring new experiences to Apple products.

This position requires a self-motivated robotics software engineer with strong technical and interpersonal skills to handle responsibilities including:

• Designing and implementing APIs
• Designing and implementing tools such as visualizations, logging, and evaluation systems
• Evaluating and debugging a complex AI systems
• Integrating complex AI systems into a larger software stack
• Designing and implementing firmware-level features

Minimum qualifications include:

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Math, Robotics or related field
• Very strong software engineering background with at least 5 years of industry experience
• Ability to break down large features and implement practical solutions
• Curiosity about new technologies and flexibility to dive into different parts of a SW stack at different times

Preferred qualifications include:

• iOS Development experience, including experience with Swift and Apple development tools
• Experience with system design and hardware deployment
• Proficient in building visualizations and tooling (e.g., Python, QT)
• Experience writing wrappers to IPC mechanisms such as XPC and RPC
• Systems experience involving deployment of algorithms to GPUs as well as other accelerators

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
