Description

This role is responsible for leading the qualification, validation, and ongoing management of test equipment and vendor-supplied apparatus for advanced battery test labs. This role ensures robust quality protocols and supplier processes are established, maintained, and continuously improved to support achievement of company product and regulatory standards. The successful candidate applies deep experience in both equipment qualification and quality management to drive excellence in supplier performance, documentation integrity, and equipment compliance.

Responsibilities

This position develops, communicates, and maintains vendor quality protocols, acceptance criteria, and support integrating these standards into RFQs, contracts, and onboarding documentation. Duties include conducting and coordinating periodic, risk-based audits; managing qualification documentation and deviation resolution; compiling and presenting key metrics, trends, and lessons learned; and driving ongoing improvements to qualification processes. The role also oversees periodic equipment requalification, tracks escalation and resolution of supplier nonconformities, and ensures acceptance criteria are defined and enforced across protocols and contracts.

Additionally, the Quality Engineer defines factory acceptance test (FAT) setup requirements, coordinates the review of component documentation prior to qualification events, leads or witnesses FAT/SAT/UAT activities, and serves as the gatekeeper for deliverable review and final signoff. This individual manages nonconformance reporting, documents post-qualification bugs, and collaborates on appropriate corrective actions to uphold equipment and supplier reliability. The ideal candidate combines technical leadership with hands-on engagement in supporting cross-functional teams, serving as an independent witness during qualifications, and continuously elevating supplier and equipment quality standards.

Minimum Qualifications

BS degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant

Experience with test equipment qualification or supplier quality management

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree, PhD or equivalent job-related experience in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

8+ years of experience with test equipment qualification or supplier quality management.

Familiarity with electrical, hardware and software integration and ability to evaluate supplier setups, schematics, and system documentation. Working knowledge of electrical schematics, safety standards (UL, IEC, etc.), and instrumentation used in test setups. Basic scripting knowledge in test equipment operations and controls.

Lead efforts to establish and maintain comprehensive vendor quality protocols and acceptance criteria for all test fixtures, systems, and components.

Own and maintain the Master Issues List (MIL) to document and manage all major qualification, test equipment, and supplier-related issues.

Manage FAT/SAT/UAT testing with vendors and oversee qualification documentation review. Skilled in supplier quality management and audits, with a working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, and ASQ quality frameworks.

Develop, execute, and establish robust processes supporting factory and site acceptance testing, ensuring consistent configuration, documentation, and compliance to standards.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $141,800 and $258,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
