Be at the forefront of softgoods innovation! We are seeking a talented materials product design engineer to lead the development of high-performance polymeric materials with a focus on advanced cosmetic and functional coatings. If you are passionate about creating aesthetically stunning and highly functional softgoods that amaze and delight our customers, this is your opportunity.

Partnering with our material suppliers, develop new coating technologies to meet Apple's product roadmap needs.

Provide technical leadership from concept to product launch, demonstrate the ability to deep dive into technical issues, identify technical risks, and develop innovative materials solutions.

Serve as internal coating subject matter expert by leveraging thorough understanding of properties of coating materials, application processes, and performance characterization and prediction methods.

Work with industrial design, product design, reliability, and manufacturing teams to create specifications for softgoods materials.

MS in Material Science & Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Materials or related field.

3+ years of industry experience focusing on applied R&D for soft materials.

Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to a multi-disciplinary team.

In-depth knowledge of material science concepts, polymer synthesis, structure-property relationships, characterization of material performance for structural and cosmetic applications.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $132,100 and $244,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
