Inventory Operations Specialist, Data Center Operations

Infrastructure Services is part of IS&T and the foundation of Apple's global network operations — managing data center equipment and systems to deliver compute, storage, and networking services for teams across Apple, including its internal developer community. From individual facilities to a worldwide network, Infrastructure Services ensures the technology underneath everything works without question. As a vital member of our Data Center Operations Teams you'll power the hyperscale infrastructure that connects over a billion customer devices worldwide. Simultaneously, you'll ensure seamless connectivity for over 160,000 Apple employees and our global network of suppliers. Together, you and your team will provide the robust, reliable foundation that empowers everyone at Apple to innovate, create, and explore every possibility. Apple's Data Center Operations team supports the infrastructure that powers Apple services at scale. As an Inventory Control Specialist, you'll help ensure material accuracy and accountability across our logistics and inventory systems. You will support daily inventory activities, assist with documentation, and help train support-level staff—all while maintaining a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support and develop daily inventory operations strategies including cycle count strategies, inventory room layouts and introduction of new inventory into the site.
  • Monitor and validate that part locations, bin labeling, and item movement between physical and system inventory are aligned.
  • Assist, as necessary, in the coordination and execution of routine cycle counts and investigate and escalate inventory discrepancies as needed
  • Review any inventory discrepancies found and work with the Inventory Control Specialist to find root cause and adjust strategy as necessary
  • Contribute to documentation and review of inventory processes and standard work procedures
  • Ensure that inventory storage areas are clean and organized using Lean and 5S principles
  • Train and support contractors and junior logistics personnel on basic inventory workflows, safety, and compliance standards
  • Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of site-level SOPs and Work Instructions for inventory control processes
  • Support KPI tracking efforts and contribute to continuous improvement by identifying small-scale process enhancements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or General Studies with relevant coursework; or equivalent job related experience.
  • Experience in warehousing, inventory control, supply chain, logistics or equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds waist high
  • Valid Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise systems
  • Experience with Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow established procedures and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Foundational understanding of inventory tracking systems or ERP tools
  • Familiarity with cycle counting, bin management, or basic inventory concepts
