As a Firmware Verification Engineer, you'll be instrumental in our embedded 5G/4G/multimode cellular firmware efforts within a silicon design group focused on developing and productizing next-generation cellular SoCs. This role demands expertise across all aspects of embedded firmware verification, comfort working in a dynamic cross-functional environment, openness to technical debate, and adaptability to evolving requirements. Working alongside product development teams across Apple, you'll help push the boundaries of wireless system capabilities and enhance user experiences for customers worldwide.
Collaborate with component validation, firmware development, and systems engineering teams to build comprehensive firmware verification infrastructure, develop test cases, and validate end-to-end physical layer performance. Design and implement robust frameworks for 4G/5G firmware verification and validation. Partner with Systems and Firmware teams to validate both new features and existing functionality. Contribute to pre-silicon emulation systems and virtual platform development, utilizing these tools for firmware design and hardware verification. Verify critical protocol implementations, signal processing algorithms, and numerical computations within stringent timing, latency, and power constraints.
BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience. Proficiency in C, C++, and Python programming. Comprehensive understanding of computer architecture, software engineering principles, and core computer science fundamentals. Strong analytical and debugging skills with proven ability to identify root causes and develop solutions in collaboration with firmware development teams.
Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science. Coursework or exposure in basic digital communications and digital signal processing. Knowledge of 5G and 4G 3GPP physical layer and protocol stack procedures and configurations. Experience with silicon prototyping, emulation systems, and virtual platforms. Experience with compiler design, software optimization techniques, and performance profiling tools for embedded systems optimization. Experience with AI/ML to build workflows and tools for developing, verifying, and deploying production ready software with demonstrated ability to improve team productivity and development efficiency.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
