The Endpoint Security team is reshaping the security capabilities and manageability of Macs and other devices. We are seeking candidates with a great mix of software engineering know-how, risk assessment methodology, and security engineering practices. An ideal candidate is passionate about macOS security and protecting Apple and its customers against sophisticated attacks.
Designing and implementing core security and telemetry technology on Apple's operating systems. Understanding of past, current, and emerging malware and security exploits and applying this knowledge to adding security boundaries and defense mechanisms. Working cross-functionally with other software, hardware, red teams, malware analysts and support teams to provide the best security solutions for Apple's products. Excellent collaboration and communication skills with partner teams.
At least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer in a systems programming or kernel development role. Highly competent with at least one systems programming language and secure coding practices. Deep understanding of operating system internals, language runtimes, and compilers. Ability to delivery proven work on tight schedules. BS in Computer Science or equivalent software development experience.
Initiative to provide architectural mentorship to teams lacking resident security expertise. Ability to critically analyze security properties of a system via a threat model. Red team team mindset when developing security software.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
